The nitrogen isotopes N-14 and N-15 are used in a variety of applications. N-15 is used to produce the radioactive isotope O-15 used in PET. N-15 has also been used to study nitrogen uptake in plants and protein metabolism in humans. N-14 is used in the production of PET radioisotope C-11. It can also be used to produce PET radioisotopes N-13 and O-15.
